This paper evaluates using evidence-based health promotion messages about sexual choking. Professor Debby Herbenick and colleagues found men are more likely to reduce choking in the six months after health promotion if the message includes legal consequences. Women with a prior history of sexual choking were significantly less likely to choke someone or allow someone to choke them in the next six months after receiving evidence-based health promotion relating to consent, health and legal consequences.
