Last week Women's Health NSW spent time training the team at WILMA Women's Health Centre. Along with enjoying the artworks that line their walls, often done by the women who visit the centre, and the thriving garden (consider joining their popular gardening club), we got taken through their Term 2 program. This upcoming program includes yoga, parenting classes, fitness for fab over-50s, mindfulness, and programs to help you make healthier relationships, as well as specific groups for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, and women who identify as lesbian, bisexual, questioning, trans or gender diverse. Bankstown Women's Health Centre utilises every inch of space in their building to deliver free funded services and bulk-billed Medicare services to local women and children. During our visit with the team today, the Women's Health NSW heard about their NSW Health-funded case work, health promotion and generalist counselling services. They also offer child and adolescent trauma counselling funded through the NSW Department of Communities and Justice, plus a bulk-billed women’s health doctor and dietician you can access for free with a Medicare card.
